History
Lin San Temple was founded in Geylang by the Hakka Venerable Ruixiang (瑞祥法师) from Guangdong. Rebuilt in 1973 under Venerable Seang Heng (常恒法师), it became known for its charity work, with classes for children and regular visits and donations to elderly homes and orphanages. Construction around it later weakened its foundations, and in 2003 it was ordered to be rebuilt for safety. In 2020 the temple joined Nirvana Memorial Garden to rebuild it: the new temple was completed on 11 March 2022 and officially opened on 12 March 2023, with then Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean as guest of honour.

Niches and Ancestral Tablets
The temple offers two ways to keep a loved one's memory: a niche for the urn, or an ancestral tablet on a pedestal, where the family can pay their respects.
骨灰福位Columbarium Niches
Four suites hold the niches: Dynasty 1 and 3 (地藏殿) and Imperial 1 and 3 (帝王苑). Every niche is a double niche, for two urns.
- A free urn comes with every niche.
- In the Dynasty suites, each niche door shows a lotus opening to reveal the Buddha (花开见佛).
- In Imperial 3, each door carries a carved Guanyin (观世音菩萨).
- 0% interest instalments over up to 48 months.
神主牌位Ancestral Tablets
Two suites hold the tablets, each on its own pedestal: Dynasty 2 (地藏殿) and Imperial 2 (帝王苑追思阁).
- Up to four names and four photos on each tablet.
- Imperial 2's pedestal, 宝华王座, is a new design in glass that joins traditional and modern styles.
- 0% interest instalments over up to 36 months.
